Life's Cup of Tea

A bit quiet...

Been a bit quiet on the old blogging front namely because I haven't been crafting :(

Life has once more been dominated by university and the things that come with it; coursework, dissertation, social life (very little at the moment!) and various activities. Oh and did I mention dissertation?!

My dissertation revolves around the beautiful town of Torquay (see above for proof), but trust me the beauty is wearing off fast with every hour spent in the library!

So this post... well this post is a procrastination post!

Create: Ball Earrings

I got back onto the Fimo game this week and decided instead of making little sculptures that I was bound to break and loose, that I would make something functional. A pair of earrings! The beauty of Fimo jewellery, is that you can quickly make your own style so easily. I am no Picasso, but I am pretty pleased with these beauties and can't wait to give them a ride!

Have you had any success stories with making your own jewellery?

Sewing Box

I was lucky to get for Christmas a brand new sewing box and accessories to go inside it! It was a total surprise although I realise I have been accidentally dropping hints for a while now. Till now, i had been using an old biscuit tin with threads and needles from poundshops (student budget!) which was bearable but not attractive looking!

My brother bought me this gorgeous Kirsty Allsopp box, which has padded floral print sides and plenty of room inside for scissors, needles, threads etc.

My family and boyfriend were obviously all thinking along the same line for Rosie Christmas presents as between them they managed to buy enough to fully kit my new box out, including some Kath Kidston Needles.

Needless to say, I am now on the hunt for some sewing craft projects!

Battenburg Earring

Another experiment with my new fimo set! I used a tutorial from "Tasty Trinkets" by Charlotte Stowell to make these. Some improvement may be needed, but a good start!

Create: Sailing Card

Stamping has been recently added onto the craft agenda for me and my Mum. After an initial play around I was left wondering how to use them to actually make something...

This card was extremely easy to make. I simply stamped some boats onto some card and coloured them in before sewing some invisible thread through them and attaching them to a window card.
While I left my card fairly plain, you could quite easily add decorations round the borders and behind the window to jazz it up a bit!

Pink Rabbit Earrings

My first post on my brand new craft blog! I hope (emphasis on the hope there) to update ever so often with things that I have made. My blogging history is not very good, my stick-ability with something like a blog is not very strong and I tend to forget to update or give up after a month or two.

I will also take this moment to apologise for the lack of photography expertise.

These earrings are the first craft using my brand new fimo set which I received for Christmas. It has taken me a while to get round to using the set as I had to go to Hobbycraft to purchase some earring backs.

Fimo has the amazing ability to be blended into a multitude of colours, a feature that I used to create the light pink on these cute bunny earrings. I simply created the bunny, stuck some earing backs into the reverse and baked, followed with a nice glue at the back to secure the pieces together. I'm aware they are a wee bit lopsided, but for a first attempt, I'm rather pleased!
