Wandering to Henley

So here is my first post from my University Graduation List!

On bank holiday Sunday the weather was just too nice not to do anything, so myself and my friend decided to fulfil point number 1 and walk to Henley-On-Thames.

It's about a 15KM walk from where we live so we decided to leave in the morning, take lunch with us and get the train back from Henley at the end of the day. We used directions from here which led us along the River Thames, through some gorgeous villages with massive houses and into the picturesque town of Henley-On-Thames.

We topped it all off with a lovely cream tea at Maison Blanc then headed to the station for the equally stunning train trip back home.

Here are some photos from our day out in the sun

These bunting were hanging along the footpath in a field, they went on for a long time! I wonder if there had been a fete in the field?  It definitely made us feel very British.

I had a go at using Macro on my camera when we got to a flower filled hedgerow. My camera is a Nikon Coolpix S570, and to be honest with you I hate it. It has always been hard to zoom and the focus is terrible on 80% of photos. It probably doesn't help that it has been dropped once or twice and always sinks to the bottom of my bag! However, this one came out OK!

Polka Nails

Hi all!

Now that I have more time, I am spending more time painting and repainting my nails. The latest is these multicoloured Polka Dots.

I recently bought a new polish called "Daisy White" by Rimmell London and I cannot get enough of it. It goes onto the nail in a pale milky, glisteny colour and if you want to get a solid white colour, you have to keep layering it on. But that means that you can wear it so many different ways!

In this design, I applied about 4 layers before dotting on colour dots with some cocktail sticks. I am sure there is a less messy way of doing this but I was having just too much fun!

Since taking picture No. 1, I applied another coat of 'Daisy White' over the top as I have work tomorrow and the dots were a bit psychedelic! They now look a lot more pastel and less in your face!

I really need to start looking after my nails and hands a little more, they get so dry and chapped from washing up all the time (I hate washing up gloves) so I am on a mission now to nice nails ready for some more artwork.

Graduation List

Today's post relates a little to a post made a while back about a University Bucket List which I want to complete before I leave Uni in a months time. My friend quite rightly pointed out the other day that calling it a bucket list insinuated that I was going to 'kick the bucket' (as in the film 'The Bucket List') so I have now retitled it to 'Graduation List'. Bit more optimistic!

I have now created a page at the top of the blog with the list in and I will keep my blog up to date  with the progress!

Yesterday, during the gorgeous sunshine we went for a walk to Henley- on- Thames and I took plenty of photos so look out for that post!

Until then, happy bank holiday and enjoy the sun if you have it!

Tasty Earrings

Hi all!

So my first major post in a month! Doesn't time fly. Over the Easter break (I know, it's a long time ago) I got creative once more with my fimo set. I decided to make scores of mini slices of cake, but then ran out of ideas what to do with them.

Here are a pair of earrings I made. The cake slices are chocolate with a yellow icing and a blob of 'chocolate' on the top garnished with a strawberry.

Since I am getting more confident, I used a craft knife to carefully scratch the surface of the brown to give it that fluffy cake texture.

If I had thought about it at the time, I would have created a tutorial on how I made them, but apologies I did not! I have had several compliments since I have made them, I don't think my friends thought I had a creative bone in my body!

I'm back!

I can only apologise for the lack of blog posting in the last month, but I have just finished my finals so be prepared for an onslaught of posts over the next few weeks :)
