Mini Cake

A couple of months I posted a pair of cake slice earrings I made. At the same time I also made a whole bunch of other cake slices.

What to do with them? There are only a certain amount of cake earrings a girl can own!

Raybans and Reading

With all this sun I am really in need of a new pair of Sunnies. Luckily, over at Smart Buy Glasses they are running a competition to win not one but TWO pairs of Raybans. As if that wasn't enough, there are also TWO tickets to Reading Festival up for grabs.
What an awesome prize!

If I won, my first choice would be this Havana coloured pair. You can't really go wrong with a brown pair of sunnies.

My second choice would be these bold Turquoise frames. How funky are they?

Just think, it could be you rocking out to the likes of Greenday and Eminem in these beauties. Pop over to their website to enter via rafflecopter :)

Lonely Heart Card

My weekend wishlist #2 failed for this week  as I have been so busy at work I have had barely any time for any window shopping! I s'pose top of my wishlist at the moment is to see my boyfriend again as I haven't seen him for a few weeks :(

So when I had a quiet hour to myself, I decided to make a card to send him being the lovely girlfriend I am :)

I used some pages ripped out of an old magazine to make the pink stripes, you can still see a bit of the text through it bu I think that kind of adds to the charm. The stripes kind of remind me of a popcorn bag!

I then used a stamp to make these little hearts: one in black and two in silver.

I also spent that evening learning to make mini-envelopes so decided to stick one of those on the inside too. No idea why!

It's simple and doesn't look too bad and is a great way to use up scraps of paper. Such a short post, but I am off for my 3rd BBQ of the week now. I ❤ this weather!

Poundland Haul

I have heard great things about Poundland in terms of cosmetics so couldn't resist popping in the other day. I came away with 4 items for, you've guessed it, £4!

I was excited to see dainty doll because in the winter I am as pale as can be and read lots about Nicola Roberts range when it was first released. The products were eye-shadows.

They come in this really cute little compact. This one didn't have a little mirror in the lid, but I believe that if you buy the item full price  then you get a little mirror. For £1 though I am not going to complain.

There were 4 shades to chose from and I went for Copacabana, which the white label on the bag informed me was a blue shade. It really is an electric blue and is not too powdery when you put it on which I love. I can't wait to try this on a night out (probably a bit too vivid for day-to-day wear!)

Items number 2 and 3 are Maybelline Eye-shadow duos. I bought one of these in black from a Poundland in Reading, but they only had the one colour and I have almost used it all up already. In this Poundland, they had a whole host... I could have been VERY naughty! They come with a useful mini applicator and contain two shadows: one is a shiny colour and the other is flaky silver, almost like little bits of silver leaf.

The colours stay really well and layered with the silver look great on a night out. I have also taken just to wearing the silver as it adds a bit of glitter to a day-to-day outfit.

Item number 4 was this OPI Shatter nail varnish. The first thing I noticed was the size of the bottle... it's massive! Unlike other shatter effect nail varnish I have tried before, this one wasn't too gloppy and went on my nail so easily. I will post a photo later :)

So overall, a good, cheap haul and a great way to try out new things. I am going to venture into the creams and potions later I think!

My Kitty Fright

We had a very traumatic weekend after one of our cats went missing for 3 days. Despite having had cats my entire life, I have never had one go missing before and it really wasn't very nice!
Thankfully, when we were doing a knock round in the street, one of our neighbours found her in a summerhouse where she had been locked for almost 72 hours. Thankfully, she was OK,

albeit very thirsty after weathering the heatwave essentially in an oven!

So to celebrate I though I would share a few pictures of my kittys as well as some top tips for if your cat goes missing.

1// Check with your neighbours
In our case, this is where we found our cat! Ask neighbours to check garages and sheds, or ask them to keep a look out.

2// Phone the vets and the council and any pet charities near you.
Most vets etc will have a missing / found cat list and will be able to collate the two. Your council may also have details on any cats that have sadly been knocked down (although my council were incredibly unhelpful!)

3// Make some posters
Pick a fairly recent picture of your cat with a description, phone number and date and location of the last sighting.

4// Go for a walk / drive round your neighbourhood

It's a bit of a serious post today, but rest assured I have lots of other posts in the pipeline!

Weekend Wishlist #1

Welcome to my new feature: Weekend Wishlist! In reality I am never going to be able to afford half of this. But dreaming never hurt anyone....

#1: Newlook  £17.99

This casual bag looks useful and really nice. All my backpacks are the standard black with a zip, and as comfy as they are, they don't really suit a trip down town! I think this one it in the men's section, but there are other colour's in the women's section too.

#2: M&S  £12.00

I saw this range today while I was in M&S. There is loads of different things in this gorgeous vintage blue pattern. I am decorating my room blue and white soon so I may be making a trip. THis pattern really suits this adorable little teacup.

#3: River Island £30.00

WIth all this hot weather, I am fast running out of shorts! I love the colour and the fact they are high waisted (I can't get enough of high waisted stuff at the moment!). Although I would possibly do away with the 'Adore' belt, What do you think?

#4: Ikea £2.00

I saw these in a magazine earlier in the week. They are a bargain if you live near an Ikea and would be so useful for holidays ad you could colour code. And who doesn't love a splash of colour?

Have a lovely weekend and if you have 2 minutes, please follow me on Bloglovin' to keep up to date with my blog. Thank you!

Tiny Painting.

I have had a thimble painting kit from M&S for several years now and have just never got around to actually doing it! I collect thimbles, so I thought this would be a nice afternoon craft to do in this lovely weather and here are the outcomes!

The set came with blue, red, yellow and silver paint and I just mixed the colours to make the green.

I copied the design on the box for this one, I think it's quite sweet. Reminds me a little of roses.

If you fancy giving it a go, you can buy blank thimbles (not in many places though!) here. They are small, so quick and fun to paint  and use very little paint. I think that they would make lovely little gifts or keepsakes as they aren't that expensive.

Furry Nails!!

When I was in Superdrug the other day my eyes were drawn straight to this:

Fur- Effect Nails by MUA!! I went for the colour 'Fluff and Cuddles' which is a raspberry pink shade which was only £3.

You are supposed to use the shaker to apply it to your nails, but I found that the 'fluff' was too thick to shake out so I just took the shaker out and pressed my still wet polished nail into the fluff then removed it and pressed it in to ensure it stayed,
The fluff reminded me of what I remove from the tumble dryer filter, but pink. At first I was apprehensive as it appeared to be rather clumpy but when I shook the nail, I was left with a perfectly fluffed digit!

I have painted my other fingers a plain pink as I am not sure how it would look with a fluffy hand.

I have had my fluffy manicure for 2 days so far, and I am amazed it is still there! It is getting a bit rough around the edges but that is probably due to my bad technique. The colour has not faded at all, and it can withstand hand washing and showering (I was dubious at first!).

For £3, this is a bargain and I will definitely be investing in some more colours.

Graduation Inspiration

My graduation is on Friday and I have been tearing up the high streets trying to find something that I can afford and looks decent! Here is my dream list:

1: Blue Body Con  2: Spot Dress 3: Ruby Shift

I think my favourite is number 2, what do you think?

I will try and post an OOTD when I do chose!
