Life's Cup of Tea

Afternoon tea with the Mother

Today marks the first proper day off I have had in 14 days. 14 days of 12+ hours of work and lack of sleep. Needless to say, the blog has been neglected a little as I instead desperately try to keep on top of the things that really matter like food, showering and sleep.
So today has been lovely, especially as it marks the mothers birthday. I had a nice little lie in while the parents went for a walk then we headed out to afternoon tea. Yummy :)

The scones were shaped like hearts. Yes heart shaped scones. Perfection!
Prepping my scone the right way.

What a great day, feeling ever so slightly pregnant right now but who cares! Back to work tomorrow to burn it all off! :)

How has your sunny Saturday been?

Highlights of a Weekday.

Bus Time... A couple of minutes sat at the bus stop means it's time to whip the book out. At the moment I am trying to re-read Harry Potter as I've forgotten loads of it!

Tea Time... Tea on the go, but nothing like a good cuppa mid-morning to keep energy / happiness levels up!

Lunch Time... And what better way to celebrate than a Marmite sandwich in a Marmite sandwich box! Au Revoir squished cling film wrapped sarnies!

Home Time... It's getting dark but watching the sun set over the sea with fairy lights twinkling along the promenade isn't a bad way to spend waiting for the bus!

What are the highlights of your week days?

O Vertigo!

I have always been a fan of the lovely lady. While relatively unknown in the UK she is a bit of a thing is Australia. You may recognise her song 'Last Day on Earth' as it has been used a few times on adverts here in the UK.  Thankfully she timed the release of her latest album with my recent visit to Aus. No more extortionate shipping costs, I simply walked into the CD store and plucked it off the shelf. The feeling was great! (Note the smushed corner, that damage occurred somewhere between Brisbane and Surfers Paradise as the result of bad bag packing)
I don't normally review music on here, but today that is all about to change. This album is amazing. Just amazing. I have listened to this and only this on my hour long walk to work for the last 3 weeks. Kate Miller Heidke manages to entwine wacky, dancy, chilling and emotional all in one small package. here are my 4 favourite tracks off the album.

Ghost
Featuring Megan Washington, this song is a war of words between a mans two women.
"You are just a ghost and I am real" both women sing as they battle against one another willing the other to go. I could have this song on repat forever, it just works so well.

Yours was the body
I can just relate to this song so much at the moment. It's like Kate has literally read my mind! On a totally different tangent, it sets a very good walking pace!

Share your Air
Another duet. This time with Passenger responsible for the hit 'Let Her Go'. Kate's voice just works so well in a duet, the harmonies are mmmm mmm. Delicious!

What was I to you?
Again, another I can relate to at the moment. This one gives me chills, Kate's vocal skills are really on show in this song. Love it :)

I am super lucky as I get to go and see Kte in concert in Bristol in September. Having seen videos of Kate live, I am so excited as she is incredible live!

Have you ever heard of Kate Miller-Heidke? And do you have an album / artist on repeat at the moment?

The Disney Tag

Everyone loves a bit of Disney. My personal favourite is Up! :) When I saw this tag over at Michelle's Life Out Of London  I knew I had to give it a go!

Snow White - Do you consider yourself beautiful? It could be a worse, but I think you will be hard pressed to find a girl who thinks she is beautiful. I imagine even Beyonce has issues, and well she's the queen of beautiful!

Sleeping Beauty - How many hours do you sleep at night? Every night as I fall asleep I have to work out how much sleep I will be getting. If it's less than 8 hours I will struggle to get to sleep and will be super grouchy in the morning. If it's less than 7 I want to cry and can guarantee the next day is a write off

Cinderella - Do you have a curfew?  Sadly I do when I am at home :( I was a naughty girl once when I was 17 and 5 years on I am still paying the price. It's a 2 o clock curfew so not too bad, and is apparently as my mum worries.

Rapunzel - Do you love being outside? Yes :) Especially in the sun!

Red Riding Hood - Do you trust strangers easily? Only if they have cake. Jokes. Not really!
Beauty and the Beast - What makes someone beautiful in your eyes? I do like a nice pair of eyes :) Eyes are good.

The Little Mermaid - What would you sacrifice for love? I am very much a compromise person. If the other person is also willing too sacrifice things, I would sacrifice lots. When they won't compromise or support that, then I'm not willing to sacrifice anything. Love is about being in something together.

The Frog Prince - What do you find disgusting?  Fish.

Jack and the Beanstalk - What plants do you have? I don't really have a very good history with plants. Therefore I own none.

Puss in Boots - Do you have pets? If not, do you want them?  Oh yes :) 3 gorgeous kitties. I am also super keen to have a hamster in my room but wouldn't really want it to become cat food so I just have to dream.

Pinocchio - What is your biggest wish? To be happy. :)

Peter Pan - What is your mental age? 70% of the time I have the mental age of a 11 year old. The other 30% is spent as a 50 year old.

The Snow Queen - Who is your best friend and what would you do for him/her?  I think I have a group of best friends as opposed to one. Though when it comes to it, my mum probably edges into the lead :)

The Princess and the Pea - Are you sensitive? I think so, am very good at disguising sensitivity though so people think I'm quite tough. I even managed to laugh at titanic the first time I saw it, even though it is obviously super sad. Laughing disguising severe upset is a skill of mine unfortunately!

The Brave Little Tailor - Do you consider yourself brave?  I think so! I say yes to thinks quite easily, then by the time I want to bottle it it is too late so I just kind of have to.

Let me know if you carry out this tag :)
