Places: Devon - Pixieland

You wouldn't really expect it as you are whizzing along the moorland roads. A small building with a massive garden and hundreds of pixies. You also couldn't really think of a better location for such a place given Dartmoor's history with Pixies and magical creatures. While nestled away, Pixieland is one of those hidden gems among the rugged moorland that I love.

Spring is a pretty glorious time to visit this little magical sanctuary; the dafodils and other flowers are in full bloom. However, I imagine the sun in the summer and the oranging leaves in the Autumn are just as lovely. Unfortunately, the day we visited was one of those typical early April-Dartmoor days. Grey and rainy. But still... managed to enjoy every second!

The garden at Pixieland is one of those magical ones that would have been incredible as a small child. There are small paths, nooks and crannies everywhere with hundreds of pixies placed everywhere. Pixie football team, check. Pixie fishing, check, Pixie flashing it's bum.... check. Even better are the pixie hats, jackets and fishing rods - human sized - that you can borrow to take pictures around the garden, including perched on the human-sized toadstool.

The pixie garden is free to enter (and free to park) though I also highly recommend going into the little shop to buy your own unique pixie  or other magical memoribillia, including some delish Devonshire fudge.
